 Easter isn't all eggs

It is always a challenge to design for a religious event. In this case Easter is complicated because it involves sorrow and happiness. In order to get people's attention I decided to focus on the happiness of Easter Sunday. Good Friday is a very important day but it is also very heavy and sad. By focusing on Easter Sunday for the design, I am in a good design zone because I can include lots of colour to celebrate life, fresh colour is new life and colour vibrance is of vitality and living life.

I decided also that colour would be more interesting rather than the obvious Easter eggs. There is the argument that I need to create what people expect to see and what matches their preconceptions but then there's also creating something memorable. I decided that something organic (flowers) but more abstract would work easily with the colours. I decided against using the clichéd daffodils and created my own species of Easter bloom!

This design was used for two different church locations within the same parish. Traditionally Easter is a bigger event than Christmas in the church so this needed some loving design attention.
