Designing for three Christmases in one year
Every year I set myself the challenge of designing church Christmas fliers for their busiest week leading up to Christmas. This may sound straight forward but as Christmas becomes more and more diluted by retail and the commercial world, the religious themes of Christmas are hardly referenced or even seem to be forgotten about. The combination of this and the fact that most churches do their own design, I offered three churches in my area a (free) hand.
The churches I approached needed designs quickly in order to organise professional printing and local distribution.
Each of the designs incorporates an element of religious reference in order to retain the 'real message' that churches try to convey at Christmas and also something quirky and fun. I used this strategy so that the designs would mean something to everyone and above all would be (hopefully) memorable.
