 Mayfair mysteries

As we are still in a state of semi-lockdown I decided to check out some street art with a more mysterious twist. I had seen on social media a walking guide for the Mayfair sculpture trail but had unfortunately missed the last weekend where I could see all of the sculptures, including the temporary ones. I soon discovered it wasn't a problem as the remaining permanent sculptures are a real treat. I was able to capture a giant handbag called a Bag of aspirations by Kalliopi Lemos, a spaghetti bench called Simple talk by Pablo Reinoso, a creepy life sized sculpture of a dark figure in a torn dress called Reina Mariana by Manolo Valdés and a masked Horse and Rider by Elisabeth Frink.

It was also interesting to see how the general public interacted with the sculptures. As these are sculptures in the public realm they interact with their surroundings. In some cases they are next to shops and in others they are next to street furniture so people can easily pause and reflect. The trail and the sculptures themselves are good fun, wonderfully creative and engaging. I hope there is more of this kind of trail and artwork to be found in the future.
